🌏 No +86 Phone Number? Three Ways to Actually Download from Baidu

We’ve been getting the same question on repeat lately: “I don’t have a Chinese phone number — how am I supposed to download anything from Baidu?”
Fair question. Baidu Netdisk is basically the Great Wall of cloud storage — it works beautifully if you’re inside, and it shows you its cold shoulder if you’re not. So we put together three workarounds, ranging from “do it yourself” to “let us handle it.” Pick whichever fits your patience level and wallet 💸
Option 1: Register Baidu with an overseas number (the DIY route) 📱
Yes, it’s possible — most of the time. You can sign up for a Baidu Cloud account using a non-Chinese phone number, and once you’re in, syncing with Baidu Netdisk works just like it does for everyone else.

⚠️ Heads up: registration with overseas numbers isn’t 100% guaranteed to go through — Baidu’s mood on any given day is its own business 🌦️ If you have a VPN that can connect to a mainland China server, we’d recommend turning it on before you try to register. It noticeably improves your odds of getting through.
🐌 One more thing about speed: even from inside China, Baidu’s download speed for non-premium users is… let’s just say “characterful” (we’ve stopped trying to find the words 🫠). If you actually want files to land at a reasonable speed, you’ve basically got two choices: subscribe to Baidu’s premium membership (honestly, not that expensive), or skip ahead to Option 2 or Option 3 below.
💡 Pro tip: account registration is a one-time setup. Once your account exists, you’re done forever — even if you decide to bail on this route later, having the account doesn’t hurt.
Option 2: Third-party transcoding tools (like Kdown) 🔧
If registering an account sounds like too much homework, there are third-party services that take a Baidu Netdisk link and turn it into a regular, browser-friendly download link.
